The firm's senior member, John Luke “Jack” McConn, Jr., has been engaged in the practice of law in Houston, Texas for over 50 years. During that period, his practice has been dedicated almost exclusively to the representation of clients in contested civil matters before trial courts, appellate courts, arbitration panels, and regulatory bodies. Mr. McConn has tried literally hundreds of contested cases before juries throughout Texas and across the United States.
Mr. McConn practiced in the litigation section of one of Houston's largest firms, Butler & Binion, for 34 years. During his tenure at Butler & Binion, Mr. McConn chaired both the litigation and insurance trial sections of that firm. He left Butler & Binion to form his own firm in 1986. Mr. McConn has served as President of the Houston Bar Association and as a Director of the State Bar of Texas. He was the founding chairman of the American Bar Association’s Energy Litigation Committee. In recognition of his accomplishments and expertise, Mr. McConn was admitted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1971. Mr. McConn has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
The McConn Law Firm practice is based, in significant part, upon referrals from other attorneys, and we frequently work with other attorneys in the preparation and trial of cases. The firm’s lawyers are often retained to conduct the trial of cases which other attorneys have handled through discovery and pretrial proceedings. The McConn Law Firm principals are backed by a trained and experienced staff of associate attorneys, legal assistants, and briefing clerks which assist in all phases of case preparation and trial. When additional manpower or expertise is required, the firm typically associates other counsel on a case-by-case basis. In addition, the firm utilizes a sophisticated computerized litigation support system to organize and evaluate the pleadings, research, testimony, and documentary evidence generated and collected in the litigation process. As a result, the firm's attorneys are freed from organizational and clerical tasks, enabling them to use their time more efficiently in the pursuit of our clients' goals.
